My Day in Southaven, MS

The day I spent in Southaven, MS, was both an educational experience and an exciting adventure filled with sightseeing. The suburb of Memphis, TN, is one of the fastest growing cities in the South and that population growth was evident when I saw all of the new shopping centers and restaurants.

My mini-vacation started bright and early when I checked out all of the shopping at the Tanger Outlets. The outlet mall was built in 2015, and I was surprised to find out that it is the first outlet mall in the Memphis metropolitan area. What I wasn’t surprised to find out was that I could easily spend an entire day going store to store while taking advantage of all the great deals. Mission accomplished.

At the end of my fun-filled day, I discovered that I could still get a ticket for that night’s hockey game. So, I decided to check out the Mississippi RiverKings, a team in the Southern Professional Hockey League. Since the team plays near my hotel at the Landers Center, I was able to walk to the event while taking in the fresh air and scenery of Southaven. I learned from a friendly resident of the city that the Landers Center also serves as the new home for the Memphis Hustle of the NBA G League.
